Dear Friends, our world is
currently facing the global pandemic the Covid19. Governments from all over the
world, including ours (both state and federal), are doing what they can to
contain the spread of the virus. Normal activities have been suspended in a bit
to contain and trace cases.
Regular activities at the library
have been suspended including borrowing of books and reading within the library
space. However, due to the peculiar case of our community, we have realized
that we can play an important role in providing the right information to our
community. We were sad to hear several rumors and wrong information that has
been shared within the community. Two days ago, there were rumors going around
the community that Christians should check their Bible for any strand of hair
that can be found. If found, it should be taken with water and that it will
provide immunity for those who have done so.
In another section of the
community which we visited, we realized that many people took chloroquine
believing that it will cure covid19. Some of these people we met were already
reacting to the dosage of chloroquine they consumed.
These stories point to the
peculiar circumstance of our community hence the need for us to clear such
misinformation by providing the right information. In that line, we will be
available to provide the right information. Using the right sources and
consulting with medical practitioners, we will be answering any question that
pertains to covid19. Kindly note that we will not provide any medical care,
only information. We hope that these efforts will help combat that infodemic
that goes along with this pandemic.
Please kindly adhere to the
safety instructions offered by experts. We will fight this challenge together,
and we will overcome it. “Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I
am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you
with My righteous right hands” says the Lord. (Isaiah 41:10). Let’s keep
praying. This too will pass away! God be with you!
