2ND PRIZE WINNING ESSAY| BY WALKAT APOLOS

THE JENTA OF MY DREAMS

Jenta is a small nucleated settlement. An area blessed with more rocks than plain grounds which affects the availability of water. It is divided into several parts known as; Jenta Makeri, Jenta Adamu, Jenta Mangoro, and Karshen Jenta. It is tagged as the most corrupted area, many people see this place as a negatively influential place where nothing good can come out of, but many people living in this Jenta have brighter future ahead, although with no road that leads to their destinations.
This Jenta you see and know has been attacked with a huge dilemma but with time it will definitely be developed. It has this dilapidated economic system which has greatly reduced the development and stability of the community.

The Jenta of my dreams is the Jenta I have always hoped to see. This same Jenta where they say nothing good can come out of it is the same Jenta that will raise great people, great leaders, great professors, doctors, teachers, and life-changers and you will one day see them and be proud to say “This boy or girl was born and brought up in Jenta”. Forget the fact that you see Jenta like this, give it time and you won’t recognize it again, for the Jenta you see today is not the Jenta you will see tomorrow. The Jenta of my dreams is the up-coming Jenta, the developed Jenta which is yet to come. Jenta will be a better place. True Christians are going to be brought up in Jenta. It will be part of the nicest place to be and will also serve as a learning field for the nation. Individuals from far and near will come to achieve something in life.
Walkat Apolos, receiving her prize!

You may see this Jenta the way you see it but I see a Jesus empowered community, though abused (ABUSED). Some may wonder why I say so but I see great people in Jenta. In this same Jenta there is a center of tin mining which empowers youths, that’s not to talk of in the next few years to come.
More so, as time goes on, so also the number of churches, schools, and in facts institutions, in general, are at an increase in Jenta. The rate of abled but unemployed youths will soon diminish because great minds are beginning to sprout in Jenta. Every youth that is within the age bracket of the (18-65) and is able and willing to work will find paid employment. It will become very hard for one to get an idle or lazy youths in Jenta. We will train hardworking people.

I think the Jenta Reads Community Initiative are trying their best to train hardworking citizens in the community. They have a vehement motive of influencing their people positively. They have set up avenues in Jenta where true and complete citizens will be brought up. This association created a library which has helped many lives, computer schools and other programs which are helping people in the community. The Jenta Reads Community Initiative has a wide and selfless mindset for contributing their quota to Jenta. They have truly created a way for the development of Jenta.

Furthermore, “education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” (Nelson Mandela) and the Jenta I’ve been dreaming about is the Jenta where everyone is educated, educated individuals that are capable of changing the world. These people live in Jenta. I believe in the Jenta where education is used to liberate people from the forces of ignorance, poverty, drug abuse, immorality, adultery, fighting, cultism, and backwardness.
