The rains are here! Project H20 is drawing to a glorious close. Having supplied 689 gallons of water, the temporary solution offered by Jenta Reads Team has pleased everyone. While Project H20 does not totally solve the problem of Jenta in terms of water challenge, it has reduced the hardship and created a signal of hope in heart of community members. For the first time, community members are beginning to believe that something can be done about the water condition.
Project H20 is just a step towards answering the big question that stares us in the eyes. Hope is rising, energy is been channeled rightly and friendships are been formed. One of the Jenta Reads Team members testified that it was during Project H20 that he caught the whole Jenta Reads Community Initiative vision. The “Thank You”’s from families, the blessings, and the show of gratitude…. Is enough to make a bad day brighten up. On a particular Saturday, all the houses that received water insisted on feeding the Jenta Reads Team. Another aged woman said “You don’t know the joy of just seeing young people doing something like this. You are showing the path of dignity for the next generation…….”
A group within the community has approached Jenta Reads for its model in order to have numerous replicas of it, of course, it was gladly granted! As Project H20 comes to a close, some beautiful memories come to mind. For instance, moments like when supplies exceeded 50 in a day and there is just one person available… moments when ice is made a compulsory cause of heat…. Moments when buyers had to beg for the team to come and get their cash…. Moments when people thought this project will not continue and it continued…. Moments when passersby stop to ask and give advice… moments when the fellowship of lunch is celebrated… And for the kind gesture of Mr. Mwanlong and the family of Mr. Kamyal who gave their Jerricans and Wheelbarrow for free, we are deeply grateful. We hope to continue partnering with you in the upliftment of Jenta. And for the whole team…. Remain blessed. Let’s continue our march to making Jenta the kind of community we want. Jenta Reads plans for next as it enjoys the blessings, God!
